Security

The device has no public address. An attack from the internet has no route.

A private APN is several independent controls. None of them is “the company’s security” by itself. Together they remove the exposure a SIM usually brings with it.

Security layers

01

SIM list and IMEI binding

Only an allow-listed SIM joins the APN. Where the operator’s platform can bind it to an IMEI, a SIM moved to another device does not keep the session.

02

No public IP

The address is private. The internet cannot address a packet to it. This is not a hidden NAT with a hole on demand.

03

Segmentation

A meter does not have to see a camera. Traffic between SIMs is cut where the APN variant and the firewall allow it.

04

IPsec / VPN tunnel

The path to headquarters is encrypted. Isolation removes the route. The tunnel protects the payload in transit. It is not application encryption.

05

Customer firewall

The rule for which systems at headquarters may see the device stays with you. Internet breakout goes this way, or not at all.

06

Logs

The trace of the session and of the decision sits on the firewall and in the tools you already run. An APN does not replace a SIEM or incident handling.

Complete solution

SIM + private APN + MDM + hardware (Peplink) + support

The layers on this page cut the network. MDM is the lock on the device, so a setting on the phone cannot walk around them: one APN, no foreign Wi-Fi, kiosk mode, always-on VPN and a wipe of lost hardware.

Path: zero-touch or Knox Mobile Enrollment, an MDM profile, the private APN, an IPsec tunnel, the firewall and headquarters. The MDM server is inside that network. Peplink joins the APN as edge hardware. The internet has no route. Enrol MDM APN IPsec Firewall HQ ZT / KME FAMOC / Knox operator APN · Wi-Fi · kiosk VPN · wipe Peplink hardware MDM server inside Internet no route
Enrolment hands the device to the console. SIM traffic uses the private APN and the tunnel to headquarters. The console is on that side. Peplink is the edge for a cabinet or a vehicle.

How a device joins this path

What bounces off the edge

A scan, a login attempt and traffic from the public network stop because there is no route. The shield in the diagram is that missing path plus the firewall at headquarters — not a magic product.

Segmentation, a smaller surface, access control, material for logs and backup connectivity support a conversation about measures. We do not state that an organisation is an essential or important entity, and we do not issue a certificate.
